Summers are the time of the year when we often wonder what to wear so that we look cool and the heat does not effect our style. In my earlier article “The Secret Science Behind Fashion: Never Worry about Dressing Well Again” , I shared a lot of useful tips related to personal style, shopping and colours. In this article, I’m going to talk about useful summer colours and fabrics for men and women. As we are in the middle of summer in North India right now, this article will provide some much needed insights into dressing well for summers. One of the challenges with our summer weather is that it does not support all types of fabric and colours. However, we can enjoy summer well if we know what kind of fabrics and colours to carry. So, let’s dive into some classing clothing tips for Summer Fashion 2018.
In summers the lighter the fabric you wear, the more comfortable you will be. Fabrics such as cotton, rayon, silk, linen, khadi create magic. These light fabrics provide lot of comfort to the skin.
When we talk colours it all has to be light, tints or tones. Use tinted shades to look cool in summer. Colours such as white, tinted shades of blue, lilac, hazel green with a combination of white are perfect for summer.
Floral patters are very much recommended for summers, particularly Damask and Fleur de lis.
There is a question which my clients often ask me – “How can we incorporate darker colours in our attire in summer”?
I always say – “Understand the power of accessories”. You can incorporate any colour to add on some extra attention to your attire.
Summer add on trends – Baggy shirts, glares/shades, long kurtas. If you have longer hair you can go for Ombre hair colours. If your hair is short, go for a nice global hair colour shade.
All my male clients often complaint that they don’t have much options to wear or show off. Well this is certainly not true. Here are some great Summer Fashion 2018 tips for men.
Cotton panama, cotton, gabardine, Gauze, linen, and khadi are some of the good choices of fabric for men in summers. Light colours should be preferred such as, tints of blue, cream, white, peach etc – etc. Checks are suggested like graph check, pin check. Some fun and charming pieces of clothing for men include Pinstripe shirts and round-neck t shirts. Cotton trousers and light denims are also recommended.
Summer add on trends – You can play well with different patterns and coloured ties. You can incorporate a well – designed watch and shoes. Hats are fancy as well. To add on pure elegance, you can choose brooch and pocket squares.
And as I always say fashion is how you define it. With these tips you can choose the kind of clothes that you like, add on some fun accessories and create your own summer look.
Here’s my Summer Fashion 2018 mantra for you – “Wear light colours and lighter fabrics to look super cool in summers”!
